More published works from the web

Life is a journey of risk and discovery.

I am continuing to search for my published works Online. Here are some more things I found:

Here is an article I did for Orange & Blue magazine when I was attending journalism school at the University of Florida.

It is called "Freedom Fighter," a great character sketch about Scott Camil, an anti-war activist who also attended UF. He was an active leader in the VVAW and also part of the Gainesville Eight, a group that was target for legal prosecution by the Nixon Administration because of their activities.

Here are a few other articles I did for BLADE magazine. The articles I have written for the magazine that I am most proud of aren't posted on the Internet, so I will have to post them myself the old fashioned way. Until then, here are the ones that are available right now.

This one is called "Knife Maintenance: The Total Package." I featured some products by a company called Sentry Solutions, and they loved it (as much as I love their dry chemical lube products), so they posted it on their Website.

In essence, the story is about ways to take care of knives - blades, handles, mechanisms and sheaths.

This next article, titled "Handles From All Over the World", is about a guy named Joe Culpepper and his natural materials company called Culpepper & Co.

I got to meet Joe for the first time at the 2008 Blade Show in Atlanta earlier this month (June). Here is a picture suitable for framing.

I plan to post a longer blog about the my experience as a freelance writer for BLADE magazine. Please check back for a more comprehensive collection of my articles and some great pictures from the Blade show.

Published works from the web

I'm sailing through life trying to
make sense of what's going on around me.

I will start off with a collection of assorted published works. I wish I could find all my clips online. unfortunately I cannot. But I will try to get as much stuff digitized as possible.

HERE is an environmental-themed story I did for Ocala magazine. I wish I had entered it into some contests but I didn't. You snooze, you lose, I guess.

It includes my first brush with a guy I respect a lot named Guy Marwick. I call Guy Marion County's own Lorax.

Also, here is my blog called The Green Zone. It is an environmental-based blog.

This next article is one of many I have written for BLADE magazine. It is about a knife maker in Hawaii named Tom Mayo. I have been writing for BLADE for about 4 years now. Knives are a part of my life because my dad, David Rhea Sr., among many other things is a knife maker.

Since writing for Steve Shackleford, editor from BLADE, I have had the honor to meet a lot of really talented, nice people who make up the knife culture. I will enter a separate blog post about the knife world as I see it. Stay tuned.

That's all for now. I will continue to aggregate more of my work here.
